Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
Our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program introduces project-based learning approaches that allow students to gain knowledge through hands-on experience. This may involve guided investigations, experiments, and group or individual research projects. This program will also emphasise the importance of reporting and publishing findings, with project reports being featured in the La Mer Online Journal.
This program will focus on developing essential skills such as:
Collaboration and teamwork
Use of the scientific method
Clear and concise writing style
Reporting and publishing findings
Some project ideas may include; investigation of bacterial colonies found around the home, effect of soil pH on the growth of bean plants, analysis of metal corrosion rates in various chemicals, effect of temperature on semiconductor devices, and robotics and electronics projects.
