My name is Catalina Diaz Deramond, I’m a professional kindergarten teacher with a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and Masters of School Management. I have extensive early childhood teaching experience that includes 4 years working as a Director and Teacher in kindergartens and a further 4 years as a Technical Curriculum Assessor of kindergartens in Chile. This included directly working with the children, planning and evaluation of all aspects of kindergarten management, in relation to the implementation of training, educational programs and adherence to the Chilean National Educational Framework policies.
Additionally, I have worked for the last 7 years as a University Assistant teacher and tutor, working with students from education careers at the Catholic University of Temuco, Chile. I have also participated in various academic research projects at this institution.
I grew up in a family with a special appreciation for art, specifically music. For this reason, I started my formal studies in music at 4 years of age. I studied music at children's university academies and music conservatory, where I did an in-depth study of formal piano study.
I really enjoy my time teaching, playing and creating with children. Childhood is the most precious age in terms of learning and training for life skills, that's why I feel fortunate to be part of the La Mer Wellbeing team and collaborate in the implementation of its curriculum.
La Mer Wellbeing designs an Individualised Education and Wellbeing Portfolio for all of our students.
Raising toddlers can be a challenging time for parents. We are often concerned about whether or not our child is reaching the ‘typical’ milestones in accordance with their age. Parents can at times be self-critical and question their parenting skills – which can interfere with the innate joy we should be experiencing observing the wonderful growth and development of a child during these fascinating toddler years.
The pressure to provide optimum nutrition, learning and physical experiences for our growing little ones can be quite overwhelming, often with the challenges both Mum and Dad face with busy work schedules. Our school readiness program is tailored specifically to your child's individual needs and changes in accordance with your child's development. The readiness program has been created in conjunction with the Australian Curriculum and Christina Aloisio's C.R.E.A.T.E Appreciation for Learning Theory.
At La Mer Wellbeing we feel School Readiness Programs are essential to helping students prepare for 'big school' and gain independence and confidence that will ensure that your child will be an active learner throughout their schooling years and beyond. To assist in a smooth transition we work in accordance with your local Pre-school and other child care facilities.
